Cabinet styles offer more support and storage space. In choosing a style, remember that the stands should go well with the trim of the tank, and that the height should primarily be considered. Cheap stands are usually made of metal, either iron or steel. Because metal rusts, it is not recommended for saltwater tanks, and while metal stands are cheap, they do not come in cabinet styles and do not offer maximum support for your tank. Cabinet styles made of wood and wood byproduct provide more support. Between wood and wood byproducts though, wood is still the best choice because pressed board or fiberboard stands swell and weaken if improperly drilled on.
